“Personal and spiritual growth is as important to me as breathing,” says Sue. The catalyst that sparked this passion was a personal growth intensive that she attended in 1974. From student to facilitator, Sue worked with and subsequently taught the concepts for over five years.
Personal growth training led to corporate training where she created and delivered topics such as stress reduction, customer service, conflict resolution and team development.
From there, as a self-taught educator, Sue began the first of her 15 years of part-time teaching in 1996 at MacEwan University. Her topics – business writing, public speaking, and study skills.
In 1999 she wrote and published her first best-selling book, Tips & Tools for Student Success. It was followed in 2003 by her award-winning Tips & Tools to Speak with Confidence – Keys to Finding Your Voice.
Thriving since her near-death experience in 2007 and two bouts of cancer in 2011 and 2012, Sue published her memoir Magnificent Misery – From Adversity to Ecstasy in 2015, followed by a second edition in 2022, which hit Best Seller status on Amazon.
The Healing Call of Cancer was launched in October 2024 in response to Sue’s own healing journey. “There are so many twists and turns to a cancer journey. It’s a daunting challenge if you don’t know your options or even what questions to ask. I wanted to offer a sufferer’s perspective along with options and a variety of practical strategies. A how-to book of sorts, it’s meant to spark discussion and inspire hope to those diagnosed and to their families.”
Sue’s cancer journey opened her to the concept of each person’s inherent magnificence and the dream of experiencing heaven right here on earth. To that end, she co-created The Magnificence Lab in 2023 and is currently conducting workshops and mentoring others about those two concepts.
Sue lives in Edmonton, Alberta and is the proud Nana to twin granddaughters.
